Eligibility Requirements

• Be an international student who requires a Canadian study permit.
• Be in the final year of secondary school during the 2026 to 2027 academic year, or have graduated no earlier than June 2026.
• Be starting undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto in September 2027.
• Be nominated by your current secondary school.
• Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.
• Demonstrate the potential to contribute positively to your school, community and wider society.
• Apply for an eligible first-entry undergraduate programme at the University of Toronto.
• Students who are already attending post-secondary education are not eligible. Students beginning post-secondary studies in January 2027 at the University of Toronto or another institution are also not eligible.
• Applicants cannot simply apply for the scholarship themselves first.
• Their secondary school must nominate them. Each high school can nominate only one student per year.

• Any documents requested through the University of Toronto application portal.
• The private Pearson Scholarship application link is sent to students after they have been officially nominated by their school and have applied for admission to the University of Toronto.

Application Process

How the Nomination Works

Unlike many scholarships, students cannot begin the Pearson Scholarship process independently.

Your secondary school must first nominate you.

Each school is allowed to nominate only one student per year, so students interested in the scholarship should speak with their school principal, guidance counsellor or another appropriate school official early.

Schools that have already participated in the Pearson programme receive access to the nomination process. Schools that have not participated before can apply to join the programme.

The deadline for school nominations for the 2027 intake is October 9, 2026.

Apply to the University of Toronto

After or around the time of nomination, students must apply for admission to at least one undergraduate programme at the University of Toronto.

The deadline to submit the University of Toronto admission application for Pearson Scholarship consideration is October 16, 2026.

Students can apply to up to three areas of study. However, if the Pearson Scholarship is awarded, it will apply to the student's top programme choice at the time scholarship decisions are made.

Submit the Pearson Scholarship Application

Once a student has been nominated and has applied to the University of Toronto, they will receive a private link to the Pearson Scholarship application.

The completed scholarship application and required documentation must be submitted by November 6, 2026.
