Eligibility Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
• Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or combined undergraduate and Master's programme at an eligible institution.
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate study or be in the second year of the current programme, depending on country-specific requirements.
• Have one to three semesters remaining in the programme as of fall 2027.
• Meet the required grade or GPA requirements for the applicant's country of study.
• Apply for at least three and no more than ten research projects.
• Select projects located in at least three different Canadian provinces.
• Be fluent in the spoken and written language required for the selected project, English and/or French.
• Be available for a 12-week consecutive internship.
• Start the internship between May 1 and July 31, 2027.
• Complete the internship between May 1 and October 31, 2027.
• Not have previously received a Globalink Research Internship project.
• Meet any additional country-specific and international partner eligibility requirements.

Application Process

Applicants should first carefully check whether their country and university are eligible for the 2027 programme.

Before starting the application, Mitacs recommends reviewing all eligibility criteria, including any additional requirements from international partner organizations.

Applicants should also prepare important documents and information in advance. This includes obtaining a reference letter from a professor and ensuring that they can provide valid passport information if their application is approved. Mitacs recommends that the passport be valid until at least January 2028.

After creating an account on the Globalink application platform, applicants can explore available research projects and select the projects that best match their academic background and research interests.

Remember that you must select a minimum of three projects and a maximum of ten projects across at least three Canadian provinces.
