MMoCRA Intra-Africa Scholarship 2027 | Fully Funded Master's, PhD and Mobility

Eligible Countries

Applicants for student scholarships must be nationals of and resident in an African country. The programme divides applicants into two groups: students connected to one of the five MMoCRA African partner institutions and students from other eligible African universities., Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo.

Eligibility Requirements

• Be a national of and resident in an African country.
• Meet the academic requirements of the selected programme.
• Master's and PhD applicants may come from MMoCRA partner universities or other eligible African universities.
• Applicants must select an eligible host institution.
• The host country must be different from the applicant's country of nationality and residence.
• Applicants must not have previously benefited from another scholarship under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2022 to 2027.
• Applicants cannot receive another EU-funded scholarship for the same mobility period.
• Meet the language and programme requirements of the host university.
• The guidelines state that student mobility can only be hosted in Uganda, Kenya, Namibia or South Africa, and the destination must differ from the applicant's country of nationality and residence.
• Women, applicants with special needs, refugees and people from disadvantaged, fragile or least-developed regions are specifically encouraged to apply.

• Curriculum Vitae.
• Passport or National ID.
• Academic transcripts.
• Two recommendation letters.
• Motivation letter.
• Proof of admission, registration or enrollment where applicable.
• Proof of admission to a partner institution for Target Group 2 applicants.
• Letter from proposed supervisor or head of department for Target Group 2 applicants.
• Research proposal or work plan where applicable.

Application Process

Applicants should:

1. Confirm that they meet all eligibility requirements.
2. Identify whether they belong to Target Group 1 or Target Group 2.
3. Choose one eligible host institution.
4. Prepare all mandatory supporting documents.
5. Complete the application in English.
6. Submit the application through the official MMoCRA online portal.
7. Review everything carefully before clicking submit because applications cannot be edited after submission.

The official guidelines warn applicants not to wait until the last minute and state that applications submitted by email, mail or fax will not be accepted.

Selection Process

Applications go through two main stages:

Document Evaluation: 70%

The application is assessed based on factors including academic performance, relevance to MMoCRA objectives, research or study plan, motivation, references, language proficiency and equity considerations.

Online Interview: 30%

Top-ranked applicants are invited for an online interview.
