The Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project is now open for international students looking for an opportunity to study at leading universities in Russia. The competition provides opportunities at the Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral or PhD, and Postdoctoral levels. Organized by the Global Universities Association, Open Doors is an international competition designed to identify talented students and researchers from around the world. Successful participants can receive the opportunity to study tuition-free at participating Russian universities, while eligible students may also receive a monthly stipend. The programme is available across a wide range of academic fields, including computer science, artificial intelligence, engineering, economics, business, medicine, biotechnology, education, psychology, politics, environmental sciences, and more.

Scholarship Benefits

Winners in the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral tracks receive the right to study tuition-free in Russia under the Government quota for international students. The scholarship also provides a monthly stipend. However, applicants should understand that not every expense is covered. Students may still be responsible for costs such as travel, accommodation, food, medical insurance, communication, and personal expenses. Students whose chosen degree programme is taught in Russian may also be eligible for tuition-free Russian language preparation before beginning their degree, provided they meet the relevant requirements.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons, including eligible compatriots living abroad, can participate, subject to the requirements of their chosen track.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be between 16 and 23 years old at the time of registration to apply For Bachelor degree.
  • Applicants must not already hold a Bachelor's, Specialist's, or Master's degree to apply for Bachelor degree.
  • Applicants must have completed, or be completing, an educational programme that qualifies them for higher education admission.
  • Applicants must be between 20 and 33 years old to apply for master's.
  • Applicants must not already hold a Specialist's or Master's degree to apply for master's.
  • Applicants must be between 22 and 35 years old to apply for phd.
  • Applicants must not already hold a doctoral degree to apply phd.
  • Applicants must be between 24 and 39 years old to apply for postdoctoral.
  • Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree to apply for postdoctoral.

Required Documents

  • Valid passport or scanned passport copy
  • Educational certificates and academic documents relevant to the selected track
  • Supporting documents for academic or professional achievements
  • Motivation letter
  • Completed Open Doors portfolio
  • Any required translations for documents not issued in Russian or English
  • The First Stage also includes an entrance test and supporting evidence of relevant achievements. Documents in languages other than Russian or English must generally be accompanied by an appropriate translation.
