King’s Commonwealth Undergraduate Fellowships 2027 for Small Island States

The King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme Undergraduate Fellowships support students from eligible Commonwealth Small Island Developing States entering approved degrees in 2027. Study takes place in the applicant’s home country or region, rather than the UK.

Choosing your university

Your nationality or recognised refugee status determines which host universities are available. Check ACU’s country-to-university table before selecting a course. The fellowship application and university admission application must name the same institution and programme.

Create a checklist with two columns: fellowship requirements and university requirements. Record each deadline separately. This helps prevent a complete funding application from being undermined by an unfinished admission application.

Before choosing a course, consider the work you want to do after graduation. Identify a concrete problem in your community, the skills needed to address it, and how your proposed degree would help. Use that reasoning to develop an honest application rather than broad promises about becoming a leader.

A commitment beyond graduation

Recipients must remain in their home country or region for at least three years immediately after completing their degree and fellowship. ACU states that repayment cannot replace this obligation.

Deadline clarification

Applications close on 14 October 2026. ACU’s main announcement gives 15:00 UTC+1, but its FAQ gives 15:00 UTC. Confirm the time with ACU and submit ahead of the earlier published cutoff.

Eligible Countries

Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

Benefits

Full tuition fees for the standard programme duration where these are not covered by the national government.
A living stipend, with the amount varying by study location.
One economy-class return flight per year where travel to another island is required.

Eligibility Requirements

Hold citizenship or recognised refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth Small Island Developing State.
Begin undergraduate study between January and December 2027.
Not already hold a higher education qualification.
Select an approved programme at a host university available to applicants from your country.
Study full-time.

Required Documents

Passport or national identity document.
Secondary-school transcript and school-leaving qualification information; upload the certificate if available.
CV or résumé.
Two personal statements of 300–500 words each, addressing motivation and contribution to your island nation.
Two signed and dated recommendation letters on headed paper.

Apply separately for university admission, using the same institution and course.Review everything before submitting.
Submitted fellowship applications cannot be edited.
An admission offer is not required when applying for the fellowship, but an award depends on securing admission.
